Bio

Dr. Rod Edmond is a native Atlantan.  He was educated in the public schools and raised in a close-knit southwest community where neighbors cared for one another, and families attended church every Sunday.  His parents, (LTC RET) Holman Edmond and Dorothy, are stalwart community leaders who taught their four children the importance of integrity and community service.  It is this same sense of caring that gives Dr. Edmond his bed-side manner with the law as he takes special care of the clients that come to Edmond & Lindsay, LLP for legal advice.

Edmond is the founding and managing partner of the law firm Edmond & Lindsay, LLP.  He concentrates his legal practice in the area of plaintiffs’ wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury –namely medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, product liability and other cases involving disastrous injuries.

Dr. Edmond has successfully litigated hundreds of personal injury cases and has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for victims of negligence.

Dr. Edmond received a B.S. in biology (cum laude) in 1983 from Morehouse College in Atlanta.  He received his medical degree from Duke University (Durham, NC) in 1987 and did post-graduate training in general surgery at Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.  He served five years as a physician and a captain in the United States Army.  Dr. Edmond served as the Brigade Surgeon for the 3rd Brigade, the 2nd Infantry Division on the demilitarized zone (DMZ) in the Republic of Korea.  During his last three years on active duty he served as a staff physician at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

While practicing medicine at the Pentagon, Dr. Edmond attended law school at night and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1993 from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.  After law school, Dr. Edmond spent a number of years practicing in managed care medicine and operating JurisMed, a medical-legal consulting company.  Dr. Edmond was the medical director for four years at a large metropolitan Atlanta jail.

Dr. Edmond began his legal career working with the late Johnny Cochran at The Cochran Firm in

Atlanta.  Dr. Edmond’s firm has successfully litigated numerous personal injury cases resulting in

approximately $ 200 million in damages recovered for his clients.  Dr. Edmond’s firm has an international scope.  They represent dozens of torture victims from the notorious Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq and have represented U.S. wheat farmers in litigation against the Australian Wheat Board for unfair business practices.  Dr. Edmond practiced law for two years with the firm Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr.  Dr. Edmond resolved the civil suit for the widow of the D.C. postal worker who died from an

Anthrax infection that was acquired through the Brentwood Postal Office.  He received one of the largest settlements for medical negligence in the history of a South Carolina county for a suit involving a young lady who died from the delayed diagnosis of a rare heart condition.  Dr. Edmond won one of the largest jury verdicts in the state of North Carolina for a non-death nursing home negligence suit. Dr. Edmonds started his own law firm in 2003 and shortly thereafter, he settled a multi-million-dollar suit against a company for distributing defective biomedical material to a patient.  He and his firm have won numerous 7 figure verdicts in personal injury cases.  He continues to successfully litigate many personal injury and civil suits.

Dr. Edmond has published articles in medical journals and is an active speaker on the subjects of medical and medical-legal issues. Rod is a Life-Member of the Morehouse College Alumni Association.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association, The American Bar Association, The National Bar Association, The American Association of Justice, The Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Pi Phi (Kappa Boule’) and a number of other professional organizations.

An active member of the community, Dr. Edmond has contributed to numerous initiatives including social issues and causes, political campaigns and mentoring programs for underprivileged youth.  He is a past Chairman of the Fulton County Elections Board.  He is also a former Chairman of the Atlanta Citizen Review Board, a local police oversight board.  Dr. Edmond served for 8 years as a Board Director on the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), where he served as the Secretary of the Board and the Chairman of the Operations and Safety Committee.  He has further served his community as the head coach of a youth basketball team at the East Lake YMCA and as one of the coaches for baseball teams at Medlock Park in Decatur, where his son Hayes played baseball.

Dr. Edmond’s firm’s slogan is “When I’m Sorry is Not Enough.”  And, his motto for life is, “The only things important in life are God, family, friends and who you help.”

Dr. Rod Edmond is a longtime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he sings in the Men’s Choir.  He is married to Brooke Jackson Edmond, and they are the proud parents of two sons, Holman II and Hayes, and three daughters, Clark Lorraine, Brooke Lee and Cassandra Elizabeth.
