Upon graduating from the University of Chicago, Javier returned back to San Antonio, where he attended his father’s alma mater, St. Mary’s University School of Law and graduated in 2010, where he was a member of the Board of Advocates, the St. Mary’s Mock Trial Team, the Hispanic Law Student Association, and worked two years serving impoverished clients in the St. Mary’s Center for Legal and Social Justice, where he served in both the Civil and Criminal Clinics fighting for the rights of those who could not afford attorneys.

He has served as the President of the Mexican American Bar Association – San Antonio Chapter which ensured that Latino attorneys and their clients had equal access and acknowledgement within the San Antonio community, and which annually raises money for scholarships for graduating high school seniors; he currently serves as the Secretary for the American Association for Justice Minority Caucus where he and attorneys and their clients from across the country ensure they have access to the courts; he currently serves as the VP of Finance for the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association which was established to ensure that the attorneys and their clients have fair representation in the San Antonio community; he has served as the Diversity Chair for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA); and he currently serves as a member of the Hispanic Law Alumni Board for St. Mary’s University School of Law which raises scholarship money for students to continue their legal studies and the St. Mary’s School of Law board of visitors.
