Represented the Roosevelt County Special Hospital District pro bono between 2000 and 2002, as its sole General Counsel (after the only Hospital in Roosevelt County closed in 2000), from before its formation until after it received public funding (activities including advising the Board, seeking public and governmental approval for funding, selection of the contractor/designer, dealing with governmental regulators, etc.), publicly named a Benefactor of the hospital; has represented the Christian Children’s Home and otherwise supported its mission; elected Paul Harris Fellow for his charity work involving Rotary in 2011. Was a member of the Salvation Army Board of Directors, Clovis, New Mexico, for many years; was awarded the Harley Borden prize for renovations of a one hundred year old building for office space by the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce (2001); donated many hours each year in pro bono legal activities to the citizens of Eastern New Mexico, including public legal education through local schools involving the celebration of the enactment of the United States constitution; has acted as mentor and advisor to numerous attorneys formally and informally and through the Bill Kitts Society. Has employed over the last 25 years, numerous Eastern New Mexico University students interested in pursuing a career in law. Participated in pro bono day activities through the 4th and 9th Judicial District for several years. Hague Convention Volunteer Lawyer for the Prevention of Abduction of Children in a number of different cases filed in Eastern New Mexico.
