Bio

David B. Corley has more than 30 years of experience trying a wide variety of accident cases. He has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers New York Metro Edition 2009 through 2018.  He is the senior trial attorney at the firm. He has represented personal injury victims who are injured as the result of construction site accidents, product-liability accidents, motor vehicle accidents, falls on city sidewalks and streets, playground accidents and fires. He has also represented medical malpractice and nursing home victims and people who have been raped or assaulted in unsafe buildings.

Recent Cases

Mr. Corley has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements throughout New York. Some of his recent results include:

Verdict for $15 million: In a re-trial of an action for a woman who suffered a fractured back due to bus company negligence.

Settlement for  $10 million: In a medical malpractice case, which settled during trial in Nassau County, for a 20 year old woman who suffered brain damage caused by the failure of the defendant physicians and hospital to timely treat her underlying urea cycle disorder.

Settlement for 500,000: In a nursing home negligence case for a 94 year old resident  who developed a stage IV pressure of the right heel.

 

Settlement for $725,000: In a nursing home negligence case for a 75 year old resident who suffered a traumatic tear of his penis during a Foley catheterization.

 

Verdict for $12.8 million dollars: Against the County of Nassau in a roadway design case for a women who suffered a fractured neck.

Verdict for $10 million dollars: For a woman who suffered a fractured back in a products-liability claim against the manufacturer for the defective redesign of a minibus; and the company that operated the bus.

Verdict for $5.5 million dollars: Against a building owner, for a man employed as an electrician, who suffered a significant leg fracture as a result of a fall from a ladder after being electrocuted while working at a construction project.

Verdict for $3.5 million dollars: Against a building owner, for a woman who suffered a serious fracture of the right arm as a result of slipping on oil and grease that was present on the interior stairwell at the time of her fall.

Verdict for $2 million dollars: Against the driver of a truck and the truck company that rear-ended a woman driver who sustained a serious aggravation and exacerbation of a pre-existing neck condition.

Verdict for $1.3 million dollars: For a construction worker who suffered significant injuries after falling 15 feet at a construction site.

Settlement for $3.2 million: against a property owner and contractor for a 51 year old iron worker who suffered permanent and disabling injuries to his right foot and heel after falling 10 feet to the asphalt ground while unloading steel beams from off a truck making a delivery to the construction site.

Settlement for $1.3 million: against the property owner and a contractor for a 35 year old employee of a steel subcontractor who was injured at a construction site when a large steel beam came loose from a load being hoisted off his truck by a fork lift, being operated by an employee of the contractor, striking him on his left leg and severely fracturing his left ankle.

Settlement for $1.35 million dollars: Against a building owner, for a man who suffered significant right wrist fracture, facial fractures and significant loss of vision in right eye from an optic nerve injury as a result of tripping and falling on a defective interior stairway.

Settlement for $1.5 million dollars: For a man who suffered multiple facial fractures and a skull fracture as a result of being struck by a pedestrian traffic control sign post that was knocked down after two vehicles collided at an intersection.

Settlement for $1.35 million dollars: Against the City of New York and its contractor for a 78 year old woman who tripped and fell on a defective sidewalk and suffered a fractured ankle and subsequently developed cellulitis.

Verdict for $2.6 million dollars: Against the City of New York for a 44 year old male pedestrian who suffered multiple trauma, including a severely fractured right tibia and a fractured wrist, when he was struck by a FDNY EMS ambulance while crossing the street.

Settlement for $770,000 dollars: For a 46 year old construction worker who suffered a fractured lumbar vertebra at construction site when he fell 10 feet into the basement while installing a wooden staircase.
