Bio

Kathleen P. Kettles is a plaintiff's medical malpractice attorney with 35 years of experience.  She has represented individuals in malpractice cases involving all medical specialties including cancer, surgery and brain injured infant cases.  Prior to entering law school Ms. Kettles was a registered professional nurse who worked in specialties including medicine, emergency department, critical care nursing and psychiatric nursing.

She is the head of the department for her firm and has settled or tried multiple cases resulting in awards of millions of dollars for seriously injured clients.

She has successfully argued before the appellate divisions in a number of cases involving significant issues including venue in malpractice cases, the use of the continuing treatment doctrine in cancer cases and the rights of plaintiffs in in cases involving insolvent risk retention groups.

She has lectured on dental malpractice, nursing malpractice, evidence and demonstrative evidence at trial at Columbia University School of Dentistry, TAANA, and Fordham University.

She has been selected by Super Lawyers from 2015 to 2021.

Ms. Kettles is the former Chair of the Committee of Lawyer Substance Abuse for the NYCBA and was instrumental in the development of the Lawyers Assistance Program which provides free, confidential assistance to lawyers, judges and law firms.

She is also a certified civil mediator.
